Utah parks, day and night
Utah has some of the best park riding in the US, but not every resort lets you in on a snowboard. Here's where to go for park laps, pipe and night riding, and the two resorts to skip.
Night riding and park setups depend on weather and snow. Park layouts, lifts, hours and ticket rules change through the season (and with the snow), so check the linked official page on the day you go.
Heads up: two resorts are skiers-only
Alta says it's a skiers-only mountain and snowboarding isn't allowed. Deer Valley says it's a ski-only resort. Plan around both.
Brighton (Big Cottonwood Canyon)
Brighton Resort
8302 S Brighton Loop Rd, Brighton, UT 84121
Brighton's parks, built by its crew the Brighton Diggers:
- Pee-Wee (small): gentle slopes, dance-floor boxes and small jumps for beginners. Crest 6 lift, then Snowdrift.
- Candyland (medium): features swapped often. Crest 6, through My Oh My or Wintergreen.
- Majestic (medium, advanced riders): Upper Majestic has the biggest rails and wallrides, Lower Majestic is about flow.
- My Oh My (large): the triple jump line in the trees. Crest 6, then Thunder Road.
- The Bone Zone (preseason only): a free DIY jib zone you help build. Bring a shovel; it's a hike from the parking lot by Milly.
Night riding: Brighton lists 200+ lit acres and 32 lit runs, 4–9pm Wednesday to Monday (closed Tuesdays), with Majestic Park lit. Sunday nights are new for 2026/27, and night riding generally runs mid-December to early April, conditions permitting.
Park City
Park City Mountain
1345 Lowell Ave, Park City, UT 84060
Six terrain parks, the Eagle Superpipe and a mini pipe:
- Little Kings: first-time park riders. Small and extra-small jumps, boxes, rollers and berms (Bonanza Express or Crescent Express).
- Pick Axe: medium jumps, rails and boxes for progressing riders (King Con).
- 3 Kings zone: the flagship area, where medium parks feed a rail garden, with a mini pipe in the mix.
- Pick n Shovel: large jumps and jibs for the best riders.
- Eagle Superpipe: hosted the 2002 Olympic Winter Games. Park City Mountain is also set to host snowboard halfpipe and slopestyle at the 2034 Winter Games.
Woodward Park City
3863 Kilby Rd, Park City, UT 84098
A lift-served Mountain Park for freestyle snowboarding in winter, from beginner boxes up to bigger lines, plus a year-round Indoor Hub with ramps, trampolines and progression zones. It also has skate, BMX, scooter and parkour areas, so it's a good place for a mixed crew. Helmets are required for wheeled sports.
Tips
- Canyon traffic. Brighton warns about traction laws and delays in Big Cottonwood on big storm days. Leave early and check conditions.
- Shoulder season. Brighton says early and late season can mean limited lifts and icy or slushy snow.
Park etiquette (applies everywhere)
- Orange ovals mean freestyle terrain. Resorts like Mammoth and Big Bear mark terrain parks with an orange oval. Read the signs at the entrance before you drop in.
- Scope first, then hit. Ride your first lap past the features, not over them. Look at the takeoff and the landing.
- One rider per feature. Call your drop, wait your turn and clear the landing fast.
- Start small. Every resort here has a beginner or progression zone. Work up from there.
- Helmet. Some parks require one; wear one in all of them.
