Los Angeles skateparks, beach to bridge
LA is huge, so pick a park by neighborhood. These are well-known public and DIY parks, with addresses taken from LA City Recreation & Parks and the groups that look after them.
LA City Rec & Parks skateparks have seasonal hours and close on listed city holidays. Stoner's 2026 page, for example, lists closures including Nov 26–27 and Dec 25. Check the park page on the day you plan to go.
Westside
Venice Beach Skate Park
1800 Ocean Front Walk, Venice, CA 90291
This is the famous one: concrete bowls and a snake run right on the boardwalk, with a crowd of tourists watching. Go early for room to skate, or late afternoon for the light and the show. Phone (per LA Rec & Parks): (310) 396-6794.
Stoner Skate Plaza
1835 Stoner Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90025
This is a street-style plaza in West LA, built for ledge, stair and rail sessions rather than transition. It's run by LA Rec & Parks and listed as open 7 days a week outside holiday closures.
Westchester Skate Park
7000 W Manchester Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90045
A city park near LAX that mixes street and transition. It's handy if you're flying in with a board.
Eastside & harbor
Garvanza Skate Park
6240 Meridian St, Los Angeles, CA 90042
A Northeast LA (Highland Park area) city skatepark, listed by LA Rec & Parks.
Channel Street Skatepark (San Pedro)
610 W Channel St, San Pedro, CA 90731
This is a skater-built DIY park under the 110 freeway. The San Pedro Skatepark Association looks after it. The concrete is rough and steep. Respect the locals, pick up your trash, and consider donating to the group that keeps it alive.
Cherry Skatepark at Bixby Park
130 Cherry Ave, Long Beach, CA 90802
It's a short ride from downtown Long Beach, and you can pair it with an all-ages punk show in the evening. Action Sports Kids Foundation (ASK Long Beach) lists it with the city's other parks.
Tips for skating LA
- Plan around traffic, not distance. Group parks by side of town.
- Venice is a stage. Expect cameras, and don't snake the locals on a busy day.
- DIY etiquette: parks like Channel Street survive on volunteers and donations. Don't tag them or leave trash.
