San Diego skateparks worth the drive
From Ocean Beach concrete to a DIY spot under the freeway, here are the San Diego skateparks people actually talk about, with addresses checked against the City of San Diego and the local tourism board.
Most City of San Diego skateparks are unsupervised: you skate at your own risk, per the city's skatepark page. Hours change, so check the linked page before you go.
The big three
Robb Field Skate Park
2525 Bacon St, San Diego, CA 92107
This is the city's first skatepark that it built and runs itself. It opened in February 2000, and local skaters helped design it. It has about 40,000 sq ft of concrete: a street course with a combination bowl, handrails, ledges, blocks, a pump bump and an octagon volcano. It sits at the entrance to Ocean Beach, so a session pairs well with a surf check. The city lists it as open from 10 a.m. to dusk every day.
Linda Vista Skateboard Park
7064 Levant St, San Diego, CA 92111
It opened in January 2018 inside Linda Vista Community Park. The city calls it the largest skatepark in its Parks & Recreation system. It has several bowls, a full pipe, a street course with stairs, rails, banks and ledges, and lights. A bridge runs over it so friends can watch. The park exists because of a community signature campaign. The city page lists hours of 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Washington Street Skatepark (Five Points)
Pacific Hwy / W Washington St (under I-5), San Diego, CA 92101
This is a transition-heavy park under the freeway near Little Italy. Skaters started building it themselves in 1999, and it reopened with permits in 2002. The terrain suits experienced skaters; beginners usually just watch here. Posted hours vary by day, so check before you go.

Before you roll in
- Go early on weekends. Robb Field and Linda Vista get busy, so work out the flow before you drop in.
- Bring a helmet, even where it's not enforced. Indoor parks like the Kroc Center require one.
- Washington Street is not a first-day park. Watch a few runs before you skate it.
- Pair it with the coast: Robb Field is a few minutes from the Ocean Beach pier.
